6.41 New For This Release - by Cary Johnston
We have been busy making many improvements to XGW. For those of you who are curious, here is a list of the main changes:
6.41 New For This Release
New Features
· Xenetech can now display PLT, DXF, AI, and EPS files in color.
· Users can now import text from PLT, AI, EPS, and DXF files as text, not curves or lines. This will allow the text to be edited as text.
· Users can now choose whether or not to resize a plate upon importing various file formats
· Users can now choose between the old way of importing DXF files into XGW and the new way using the Image Stream Import Filters. By default XGW will assume that the user wishes to use the new method of importing files. The method for switching back and forth can be found in the Xenetech INI files as shown below.
1. In XGW select Misc | Edit .INI Files...
2. Under INI Files, select Xenetech.
3. Under INI Sections, select JessWorld
4. In the main screen you will see the line "DoOldDXF=0". "0" is for the new method and "1" is for the old method.
Please note that if you do not have the JessWorld INI section, you will need to import any DXF file. Doing this will write the required information into the INI files and then this section will appear.
· Users can now choose between traditional arc justification (Aligns the text on the plate or page) and Xenetech style justification (Aligns the text on the circle). By default XGW will assume that the user wishes to use the Xenetech style justification. The method for switching back and forth can be found in the Xenetech INI files as shown below.
1. In XGW select Misc | Edit .INI Files...
2. Under INI Files, select Xenetech.
3. Under INI Sections, select JessWorld
4. In the main screen you will see the line "DoArcJustificationTraditional=0". "0" is for Xenetech style arc justification and 1 is for traditional justification on arcs
Please note that if you do not have the JessWorld INI section, you will need to first arc some text. Doing this will write the required information into the INI files and then this section will appear.
· Users can now get scalloped round corner plates by placing a negative radius value in the Grid Cut Out Corner Radius portion of the Setup Dialog under Misc | Setup...
· Users can now Import JPG images into XGW
· Users can now output by selected lines only. This includes all rotary, laser, output to Printer and Exporting as various file types. To activate this feature select File | Output by Selection Only (a check mark will be visible to ensure that the feature is activated). The user can now select the lines of text and/or images that are to be engraved or printed and sent to their respective places.
· Laser Grid Cutout is now ALWAYS optimized to only cut out actual plates. This previously was experimental under the DoNewLaserGridCutout key in the "Pandaville" section of the Xenetech.INI file. This is now the automatic default action.
· Expanded Copy Input command line feature to also accept the new /Q switch. This will force XGW to shut down and exit once the job has been sent to the engraver.

This is a tool to help solve the problem where the Ethernet box is unchecked when unlocking.
· Issues that caused engravers to stop while running long jobs has been addressed and fixed. Information being transmitted was being lost and therefore stalling machines. To prevent this from happening, the following INI changes were made.
Maxjob86 value from default 650000
Failsafe86 value from default to 655000.
Both can be found in the Xenetech INI file under the Spool section.
· Fixed an issue where Vertical Text height would be inaccurately calculated when changing the letter height. It now works correctly, and in proportion.
· Replaced the Origin check boxes, in the F1 dialog, to regular buttons. Some users were confused by the radio buttons.
· When importing greyscale or color bitmaps, wireframe is now automatically turned off to prevent slow redraw times.
· Fixed an issue where Diameter, Radius, Circumference values would not update before OK button was selected.
· Fixed an issue where the current font would revert back to the default font after entering a non line in a different font.
· Fixed an issue where ".BEA.XOT"" would be appended to any XOT file saves that had not manually written ".xot"
· Fixed an issue where Z Home value would change every time you selected File | New...
· Fixed numerous issues regarding bitmap rotations and placement.
