Last month, here in the United States we celebrated Veterans Day. All of us at Xenetech have a deep appreciation for those men and women that have and currently serve to preserve peace and freedom throughout the world. We feel very fortunate to work along side these distinguished veterans. We wish to honor and recognize these members of our Xenetech family by telling you a little bit about their service.

Ben Rosenstein, Technical Support Rep - Xenetech
US Navy 1963 - 1966
Petty officer 2nd class EM2 (Electricians Mate 2nd class)
Served on the USS Sierra (AD18), and the USS Robert L. Wilson (DD847)
Memorable experience: "While on the USS Robert L. Wilson, we were the secondary recovery ship for the Gemini VIII space shot. This space shot was the first to splash down within sight of the recovery ship. I, as it turns out, was on duty in the engine room and missed all the excitement, not seeing the splash down. I did see Neil A. Armstrong and David R. Scott wave to us from the aircraft carrier that picked up the capsule."

United States Coast Guard 1966 - 1970
ET2 (electronics technician) Petty Officer 2nd Class
Boot Camp - May, New Jersey
Search and Rescue - Rockland, Maine
Electronics School - Groton, CT
New York Radio Station - East Moriches Long Island, NY
Johnston Atoll, Hawaii
Memories while in Hawaii: "We were a Loran C station about 1500 miles south west of Hawaii right on the equator. It was a 6 acre island with 22 guys. no radio, no television, & no women. Johnston Island was about 10 miles away, it was an Air Force base set up to shoot down satellites. We could go there in our 18' boat when wind and weather permitted. The only reason to go over was for the PX. Since we were on a giant coral reef, the water was full of sharks, stingrays and moray eels so needless to say we didn't swim much. The most exciting part was splash down for the space capsule returning from the moon was close to us. We knew when and where it was going to happen so were all watching It looked like a shooting star from where we were. President Nixon flew to Johnston Island and then went by helicopter to splash down. I went over to Johnston Island that day and I have his picture riding in a jeep. Getting back to civilization after a year of isolation was hard but young girls and lots of beer got me through it. It was a great experience."
Gary McNatt, Technical Support Rep - Xenetech
United States Air Force 1971 - 1975
Sgt (E-5)
Aircraft Maintenance Specialist and Crash Recovery (Air Force Special Forces Division).
Accepted for Flight Engineer School for C-5a Transport (Galaxy)
Flew back seat on several missions. Crewed F-4’s, B-66’s and F105’s.
Flew side gunner on numerous rescue missions on the Huey helicopters for Crash Recovery for which he was awarded 3 Purple Hearts and 2 Bronze Stars.
Gary is a 3-time marksmanship winner and has won the Presidential Unit Citation 5 times with his assigned flight crews.
"My tour of duty was unusual in the fact that most Maintenance Aircraft Specialists do not have the opportunity to be a part of Crash Recovery.
The last thing we did was to move the B-66’s out of Thailand to the Philippines and most of the F-4’s and F105’s to the states. I then finished my tour of duty in California, which was great because there were so many flying days."
