Grid Cut Out On

Turning Grid Cut Out on will tell the engraver to cut out each individual plate after engraving them.

The Grid Cut Out option works by first engraving the plate, and then cutting out each plate. The workspace (material, Size of Multiple Plate) must have twice the grid Cut Out amount added to the dimensions in order for the grid Cut Out option to work. This is so that the cutter will have room to perform the Cut Out on the material.
For Example: To engrave and then cut out the above size plate of 6 x 8, a multiple plate size of 6.5 x 8.5 would be required for a grid cut out amount of .25 inches.
The "Grid Cut Out Amount", found in the Setup menu dialog under the Misc menu, is set to a quarter of an inch. If you are engraving with a nose cone, however, a value less than a quarter of an inch is not recommended. This is because the cone will run into the edges of the table making an unsatisfactory Cut Out and equipment damage may occur.

To Turn On and Use Grid Cut Out:
  1. Open or set up a job
  2. Make sure you have enough material room according to the Grid Cut Out Amount.
  3. Choose Plate | Grid Cut Out On (If this menu choice is not available, repeat step 2 by reading the details in Grid Cut Out Amount).
  4. Send the job to the engraver - Choose File | To Engraver... (or press F1). While in the To Engraver dialog, confirm that Grid Cut Out is ON by reading in the left column of variables. It should read "Grid Cutout is: 0.25" and NOT "Grid Cutout is: OFF" (the value of 0.25 for the Grid Cut Out Amount may be different if you changed it within the Setup dialog found under the Misc menu). If it reads "Grid Cutout is: OFF", choose Cancel to get out of the To Engraver dialog and repeat steps 2 and 3.
  5. With the job downloaded to the engraver and the engraver properly set up for your application, press the Start button on the Pendant to engrave the text portion of the job.
When finished engraving the text, the engraving head will go back to the home position and stop.
  1. Change cutter and adjust depth at micrometer.
  2. The pendent will indicate a grid cut out was found
  3. Press the Start button to initiate the Grid Cut Out.
